Karla Shanesy was born in a small town in West Virginia. She received her Pharmacy degree from West Virginia University in 1990. After raising her two daughters there, she moved to the suburbs of Pittsburgh. When her job did a restructuring she found herself unemployed for the first time in her life. In August, 2019, she moved to Philadelphia to be closer to her oldest daughter who relocated to Philadelphia after graduating from law school.

 

Karla has always had a passion for animals, currently having three dogs (Henry, Lillie, and Charlie) and two cats (Sidney and Eddie). She has worked in retail pharmacy for over 30 years and was just ready for a change to do something she loved. When she found Salty Paws, she knew it was the perfect opportunity to make that dream come true. Philadelphia was the perfect location to open a Salty Paws as it is an extremely dog-friendly city. The store is located in the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood, which holds lots of shops, restaurants, and Rittenhouse Square Park (a dog-favorite spot).

 

Karla is very excited to bring salty paws to Philadelphia, so she can provide the city with a fun and unique experience for dogs and their families.
